Four athletes left Santiago for Philadelphia with two missions: to watch the World Series and climb the Rocky Ladder.

*

Although in their early years they played other sports such as baseball, basketball, softball and tennis, now they are golfers.

*

They are Leo Sánchez, José Clase, Pepe Domínguez and Dr. Rafael Llinás, who accomplished the feat of climbing the 72 steps, which became famous in the saga of the boxer Rocky, played by Sylvester Stallone.

*

The order in which they arrived does not matter, the important thing is that to the rhythm of the song “Gonna Fly Now”, Leo, Clase, Pepe and Llinás went up and the photo that illustrates this installment is the best proof that they reached the goal.

*

Also, they brought luck to the Philadelphia Phillies, because although Monday’s game was called off, on Tuesday they played and beat the Astros 7-0.

*

The steps are in front of the Museum of Art and were climbed by Rocky Balboa when he was physically preparing to film the boxing saga.

*

The fame of Stallone’s films was such that the scene when Rocky reaches the top and raises his arms deserved to be made a bronze statue.

*

Also, there are the prints of the shoes that Rocky Balboa used to train and there people put their feet at the end of the tour.

*

Thousands of tourists personify the scene daily, so much so that the Philadelphia Director of Commerce said in 2015 that after Benjamin Franklin, Stallone and his character are the people who have done the most for Philadelphia.

*

Probably, it happened to me, when I saw the movies, they thought that the character was in honor of the ex-boxer Rocky Marciano, but no.

*

Rocky Balboa is inspired by former boxer Chuck Wepner, who is now 80 years old.

*

46 years ago, in 1976, the first Rocky was filmed, at 79 Rocky II, at 82 Rocky III, at 85 Rocky IV, at 90 Rocky V, at 2006 Rocky Balboa, at 2015 Creed, at 2018 Creed II and by 2023 Creed III is coming.

*

They are one of the wonders that can be done, when sport is combined with cinema.
