The ruling of the Inter-American Court
The ruling of the Inter-American Court responds to a claim formalized in 1991 by the Association of Indigenous Communities Lhaka Honhat (Our Land), whose ruling indicates that the Argentine State violated the rights of the indigenous communities of lots 55 and 14, and orders measures of reparation, among which is the recognition of 643,000 hectares of the Rivadavia department, of ancestral indigenous occupation.
To carry out the actions dictated by the sentence, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights created an Executing Unit in order to comply with the ruling, which implies the delimitation and demarcation of the territory, the relocation of Creole families and the delivery to the people who make up the communities of the sole property title of the former fiscal lots 55 and 14.
Within this framework, the Human Rights Secretariat coordinates the interventions of the National State and establishes articulations with the province to plan and execute efficient actions that respect the participation of the affected populations.
Access to Justice Network
The network of Access to Justice Centers is made up of 99 offices throughout the country. It is a device that works within the orbit of the Ministry and is operated through the National Directorate for the Promotion and Strengthening of Access to Justice. These offices address individual and collective problems in a comprehensive manner, both from their own professional teams and in conjunction with other public bodies: they provide free primary legal care services on issues of social security, family, work and documentation, among others.
