The undefeated English heavyweight Joe Joyce will face the former world champion, the New Zealander Joseph Parker, in dispute of the vacant interim heavyweight title endorsed by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), which will be the main fight of a card that will take place this same Saturday, at the Manchester Arena, in Manchester, England.
The fight is organized by Queensberry Promotions in association with BOXXER, and will be televised on the BT Sport Box Office.
This Friday, the official weigh-in of this card took place, under the careful supervision of the WBO director, István “Ko-Ko” Kovács, with Joyce marking 271.4 pounds, while Parker stopped the pendulum at 255.3, for this duel agreed to 12 rounds, in the highest division of boxing.
The heavyweight clash between No. 1 and No. 2 in the WBO rankings, in addition to being ranked No. 2 and No. 3 by the WBC, will have the WBO interim crown as its primary interest. and the possibility of facing, immediately, the world champion Oleksandr Usyk, recent winner, for the second time, of Anthony Joshua.
Joyce (14-0, 13 KOs), is the holder of the WBO International, WBC Silver and Commonwealth heavyweight titles, and recently resigned from the British. The 36-year-old fighter was last in action on July 2, knocking out experienced German Christian Hammer in four rounds.
Last year, he barely had a fight and also knocked out Carlos Takam in six. Being his most impressive victory, until now, the one obtained over his compatriot Daniel Dubouis, whom he knocked out in November 2020.
Confident and composed from both corners in the face-off 💪

Joyce has an impressive height of 1.98 meters. He has massive power and devastating punch, as only Bryant Jennings has escaped being knocked out, but not beaten.
In Parker’s case, he is a former WBO world champion with a record of 30-2, 21 knockouts. He won the title in 2016 with a points win over Andy Ruiz in Auckland. He successfully defended against Razvan Cojanu and Hughie Fury before suffering defeat in a unification battle with Anthony Joshua in Cardiff in March 2018.
The 30-year-old is currently on a six-fight winning streak, following a points loss to Dillian Whyte in July 2018, and the streak includes successive wins over Dereck Chisora, both in Manchester.
But the best thing about Parker is that he achieved one of the best preparations of his career, training one-on-one with the Englishman Tyson Fury, the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight champion.
