Saturday in the world of PAPER HEROES. A Twitter user posted an alleged synopsis of Blade in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU): “Himself half-human/half-vampire, ‘Daywalker’ Eric Brooks (Ali) has honed his skills to hunt the undead. dead who have long terrified mankind. A human-vampire hybrid since his tragic birth, Blade has spent his long life seeking to rid the world of vampires like the one who killed his mother. Over the years, he has mastered his own style of fighting monsters of all kinds.”

According to the document, the Marvel Studios film stars Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, Green Book) as Blade/Eric Brooks and Delroy Lindo (Get Shorty, Gone in 60 Seconds), written by Stacy Osei-Kuffour (The Morning Show, Hunters ), directed by Bassam Tariq (These Birds Walk, Mogul Mowgli), is “scheduled to begin production in late summer 2022” at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It does not have an announced release date.

Blade was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan (1926-2011), debuting in The Tomb of Dracula #10 (July 1973). He has been played by Wesley Snipes in the films Blade (Blade: Vampire Hunter, 1998), Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004), directed by Stephen Norrington, Guillermo del Toro and David S. Goyer respectively. Rapper Kirk “Sticky Fingaz” Jones took on the role for Blade: The Series (2006). Ali had a voice cameo in Eternals (2021).
