Straight out of “Blade Runner”? No, these vehicles have been designed by the Tesla supercomputer

A few days ago, Tesla held its long-awaited event called “AI Day” (artificial intelligence day, in Spanish). In addition to revealing some details about the long-awaited Tesla Bot, Elon Musk’s company demonstrated the capabilities of their supercomputer they call Dojo. This demonstration was carried out by presenting a series of digital models of what some electric models based on the Tesla Cybertruck and the Tesla Semi would look like conquering the Mars plant.

Days before the celebration of the event, Elon Musk himself warned that this would not be an event suitable for all audiences, mainly because it would talk about very technical sections and focused almost exclusively on experts in robotics and artificial intelligence. So it was. The presentation lasted three hours in which much of the optimal content for “almost all” audiences was shown in the first hour; the remaining two went directly to developers and experts in the field.

During the event, the North American company made a clear emphasis on its projection as a technology company by demonstrating the capabilities of its artificial intelligence, as well as its technical endowments with respect to advanced software. One of these sections was focused on advances on the Dojo supercomputer, which has hardware entirely designed by Tesla, no third-party components. This is something new, since until now, this enormously capable computer used, among other elements, graphics processors signed by Nvidia.

The designs were based on the appearance of the Tesla Cybertruck and the Tesla Semi

With all this artificial intelligence equipment, from the company They hope that one day the supercomputer itself will be able to design its electric cars without having to resort to the hitherto successful human team of “Tesla Design Studio”.although for this “it seems that he still has a long way to go before matching the team”, said Rajiv Kurian, principal engineer of Tesla, in the public presentation of “AI Day”.

Kurian is currently focused on the co-design and integration of hardware and software for microarchitecture. During the presentation, the person in charge confirmed the important steps that this Dojo supercomputer is currently taking, mainly in the intelligence section. One of the main applications of it will be the so-called Stable Diffusion which is a text-to-image model that can generate pre-detailed digital representations in writing.

From this process have come the images that illustrate this article on some hypothetical electric vehicles on the surface of the planet Mars. Some of them are completely impossible to come true, although others could inspire the Tesla design team to, from there, present a totally new and functional vehicle.

However, the system still has a long way to go to reach the goal proposed by Elon Musk and the Tesla team, although demonstrates the potential that Dojo has today. In the coming years, with the different advances in this regard, the company will show new and interesting capabilities.

We wish to say thanks to the author of this article for this awesome material
