Superman López started training: these are his plans for the 2023 season

Miguel Ángel López, Colombian runner for Astana Qazaqstan.

Miguel Ángel López finished his 2022 season not long ago when he is already thinking about what 2023 will be in sports terms, since his team, Astana Qazaqstan, uploaded a photo of the Colombian training in the mountains of Colombia looking to start tuning up his conditions for the new challenges that are coming.

Just a month ago the sporting year ended for López, as he decided to test his legs in the first Gravel World Cup he has ever held representing Colombia, but without standing out in this modality. Miguel during this campaign failed to be in the main rounds of the calendar such as the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France due to a hip injury that kept him out of racing for several months.

However, his return to Europe occurred once he felt better and was summoned by his team to start preparing for the Tour of Spain, a race in which he managed to get into fourth position, being one of the strongest riders in the competition. and more likely to get on the podium, something that finally did not achieve thanks to the merit of the Spanish Juan Ayuso from UAE Team Emirates who did not lose sight of the coffee grower.

Miguel now hopes to have better feelings, and luck, in his season, because for several years he has shown that he has the quality of a vueltamano, but it has not been enough to win a three-week grand tour, however, the Vuelta podium and the Giro have not been elusive in other years.

Despite his health complications this 2022, the Colombian cyclist continues to be a guarantee for his team in the stage rounds, since since the beginning of the year he has ridden in the third drawer of the Vuelta a Andalucía, won a stage in the Tour de the Alps before being called to the Giro d’Italia where he only stayed until the fourth stage.

Since then he sought to recover in his native Pesca in Boyacá and then try his legs again in the Vuelta a Burgos where he had no real intention of fighting the race, but his good conditions were such that he ended up in third place on the podium and was the champion of the mountains, something that gave him confidence about what he could do in the Tour of Spain.

His last important result of the year was achieved during the Giro de Veneto where he was fourth. All this leads him to think that he is in a good moment and should not lower his guard against maintaining his physical condition. This Wednesday Astana uploaded a photo to social networks with this message about the coffee rider: “Our leader @supermanlopezN He is already looking forward to the new cycling season!”.

Nothing is known for now about the race calendar that the Colombian will have for 2023, however, one would think that in terms of the great tours, the profile of the Tour de France suits him due to his qualities as a pure climber.
