‘The Fantastic Four’ They already have a confirmed release date, so the rumors about how the team will debut in the MCU.
The fans of Marvel they’ve been talking about it since the movie was confirmed at Comic-Con 2019, of course, but with a release set for November 2024, it’s a hint we’ll start getting hints on upcoming MCU releases.
And more intriguingly, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has confirmed that ‘‘Fantastic Four’ Won’t Be An Origin Story, comparing it to the way Spider-Man made his MCU debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’. And that, as we all know, has continued with new installments starring Tom Holland (if yours is wall-crawling, be sure to see the ranking with All the Spider-Man movies, from worst to best)
“A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something they’ve never seen before?” he said. “We have set the bar very high with bringing that to the screen.”
So if their movie won’t be an origin story, could we see them arrive in another MCU movie instead like Spidey did? A new theory from Reddit user Laugh_at_Warren suggests that we may not have to wait too long.
The theory argues that the Fantastic Four will make their MCU debut in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’.
“They will be a team of scientists who got lost/trapped/imprisoned in the Quantum Realm for a period of time. Scott, Hope and Cassie will save them as part of what happens in the movie”it reads.
“Then during one of the post-credit sceneswe will see one or more members of the Fantastic Four manifest their abilities for the first time.” Of course, as this is the case, it will occupy the first places in the order of all marvel post credits scenes.
As a MCU theory, this one holds up surprisingly well. We know that ‘Ant-Man 3’ will involve the Quantum Realm, and we’ve seen in ‘Ant-Man and The Wasp’ that the Quantum Realm can give people powers if they’re there for a while, like Janet van Dyne did.
Also, if they were just ordinary scientists when they entered the Quantum Realm, this provides a practical solution to a common MCU complaint. Whenever a new superhero is introduced, there is always talk about why they weren’t up against Thanos, Loki, or any of their villains.
If the Fantastic Four only become fantastic after their time in the Quantum Realm, then it makes perfect sense that they’re not helping out in any of the battles.
Yes, we know that Reed Richards already made his UCM debut in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madness, Marvel’s most surreal sequel, but we did not see the rest of the team. Also, he was the version of Reed from Earth-838 and not the Reed from the main MCU universe.
If this theory is also correct, then would be Reed’s version of Earth-616 in which he’s a run-of-the-mill scientist, not the Earth-838 version, since he’s dead. Of course, the multiverse opens up the option for the Fantastic Four we see in his movie to be an established team from another universe.
That’s almost as likely as the theory to avoid telling the much-touted origin story. I would, however, require some additional context as to where the Reed Richards and company are on Earth-616 because, as far as we can tell, each MCU universe has the same people, they just might take different journeys.
Whether it’s a bunch of everyday people or established superheroes, a Fantastic Four appearance in ‘Ant-Man 3’ makes a lot of sense. After all, we know that the main villain is Kang the Conqueror and Kang is a regular foe of the Fantastic Four in the comics.
Kang seems to be the Thanos of the Multiverse Sagaas evidenced by the title of the future ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’so an early appearance by the Fantastic Four would go a long way for Scott and company to start preparing for the fight.
