Here’s what Turbo Overkill Episode 2 has to offer on Steam Early Access
We will witness the gripping and gigantic second act of the cyberpunk revenge story of Turbo Overkill as the city of Paradise burns around Johnny Turbo. Picking up from the end of Episode 1, Episode 2 sees Johnny take the fight straight to Syn, an omnipotent AI that besieges the world.
The hunt continues along eight new campaign levels, but new and old weaponry can level the playing field. We’ll be making our way through a huge section of Paradise on our new Chainsaw Bike. We will be able to swing between imposing skyscrapers illuminated with neon lights with the new Grappling Hook. We’re upgrading Johnny’s iconic chainsaw leg, which allows for visceral melee damage at high speeds, with new upgrades to vending machines and junction stations throughout the city.
To kill thousands of Syn’s minions, Johnny needs to walk with difficulty and carry several large sticks. We’ll execute real orbital strikes with the Ion Blaster and take aim with the Telefragger sniper rifle, which teleports Johnny into enemies, blasting them from within.
The thrills of Turbo Overkill, fueled by high speeds, increased frame rates, and pixel-perfect gunplay, take on a cinematic style with full voice acting during Episode 2 and are added retroactively to Episode 1. Veteran talent includes Patricia Summerset (The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild), Jon St. John (the Duke himself), Tay Zonday (“Chocolate Rain”), Gianni Matragrano (Genshin Impact, ULTRAKILL, SMITE) and DB Cooper (Monster Train, Bless Online).
This is what he commented on the content Sam Prebblelead designer at Trigger Happy Interactive:
While Turbo honors and builds on the gaming legacy of the classic shooters I grew up with, its visuals and storytelling are a big step forward. With the support of Apogee, I’ve been able to add world-class voice talent and cinematics.
Plus, the amazing soundtrack work by composers Chipper Hammond, Nikola Jeremić, and Tim Stoney really pulls you in with dark, gritty synthwave beats. These production values add a lot of excitement to the FPS playing field that each level represents.
Turbo Overkill Episode 2 is available now via Steam Early Access for PC for USD $19.95 and as a free update for current owners of the game.
