The identity of the character Bill Murray in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania It has generated expectation since it was announced that the actor would be part of the next Marvel Studios production. Now, the director of the film has spoken regarding what we can expect from his participation.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Peyton Reed, who has commanded the two previous films based on Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, was clear in mentioning that the character of the interpreter has ties to the past. Specifically, he is tied to Janet van Dyne, the original wasp. The truth is that he remained cautious, but his response already gives indications of what is to come.
“Bill Murray plays a character from Janet van Dyne’s past,” the director commented. “It is a crucial role. A big theme of this film is the things parents and children don’t say to each other, the secrets they keep as a family.”
In addition, Reed clarifies that when we meet Murray’s character, Janet doesn’t necessarily feel the need to open her heart and emotions to him, as she seems to be trying to forget various things. This was what she commented:
“In the last movie, when Hank and Hope rescue Janet, Evangeline Lilly’s character had this idea of, ‘Oh, I’m going to meet my mom, this is going to be great, we’re going to talk about everything.’ But what if the other person, in this case Janet, puts up a wall and maybe she doesn’t feel comfortable talking about certain things and doesn’t reveal certain things from her past? As we know from great stories, you can leave the past behind, but the past will always find a way to come back. Bill’s character represents that in this movie.”

While confirming who the actor will play, we can say that there are already theories about it. For several months since it was announced that he would join the cast, many people have suspected that Murray will play MODOK, the quirky and well-known villain in the golden flying chair. However, in the first trailer from the film it can be seen that the interpreter has a human appearance. So the appearance of him as this character is in doubt.
The next rumor that has gained strength – and that is mentioned by sites like screen rant Y The Direct– is that the actor will be Krylar, an antagonist who, curiously, has only appeared once in the comics, and not even as someone related to Ant-Man, but rather to the Hulk. Krykar was seen for the first and only time in The Incredible Hulk #156published in the year 1972.
There, the Hulk shrinks through the Micro-Verse and arrives on a small planet named K’ai. On this planet, Krylar is a scientist henchman to a mad warlord. As if that weren’t enough, he creates a machine that can render a realistic version of an enemy’s greatest fear. Krylar soon dies, though he could be included in a larger role in this new adventure.

Jose Roberto Landaverde Movie buff and music lover. I am fascinated by writing, listening, reading and commenting on everything related to the seventh art. I’m a fan of Rocky and Back to the Future and obviously one day I’ll climb the “Philly Steps” and drive a DeLorean. Faithful believer that cinema is the best teleportation machine, and also that on the big screen we can all see ourselves represented. I constantly, like Scott Pilgrim, ask myself: “Does bread make you fat?”
