MADRID, July 11. (CultureLeisure) –
Spider-Man: HomecomingPeter Parker’s new solo film and the first in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, It has been released in style. The public has received the wall-crawler with open arms (already accumulates more than 250 million dollars at the box office) critics mostly rate it as the best adaptation of the character created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. The casual and somewhat naïve tone that prevails in the film concluded with another very funny scene. which will give much talk in the future.
((ATTENTION: THIS NEWS CONTAINS SPOILERS))
In the last ending sequence of the film (beyond the two post-credit scenes that were already revealed and analyzed) Peter dons his Spider-Man suit again that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) took away from him for being irresponsible. A great job of him keeping you the Vulture (Michael Keaton) seize important items from Stark’s collection by preventing the assault on the moving plane traveling from Avengers Tower in downtown New York to the new Avengers facilitymakes him worthy of the suit and, en future that does not seem too far away, to become part of the team of heroes.
Proud of his work, Peter returns to his room to put his suit back on…and that’s where is surprised if Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) discovers that her nephew is Spider-Man. And as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confessed in statements to Cinemablend, this was an element of the narrative they were looking for. include in a wall-crawler movie from Spider-Man 2 that Sam Raimi directed in 2004 and was very appreciative that no previous film about the character addressed this topic.
According to Feige, in a draft script that J. Michael Straczynski was writing for Raimi’s second film, Aunt May discovered the great secret of Peter Parker. “I think I was in the laundromat or something, and they had a scene with the two of them sitting down (…) I always thought we should do this one day and it was a great luck that he hadn’t done it yet. It was something that was always part of the plan“, Says the boss of Marvel.
Feige compared this Homecoming ending to when Marvel Studios chose to show how Tony Stark publicly revealed his identity as Iron Man at the end of the 2008 film. “What did that mean for the next movie? We didn’t know, but it forced us to do something unique. We didn’t want to make secret identity the big theme of the MCU. And now it’s almost the same. This dynamic forces us to do something fresh and unique in the future.”
While this isn’t the first time Aunt May has found out that Peter is Spider-Man, it is the first time (explicitly) he’s done so in a movie. And she does it very early, in her first solo adventure of her giving a new twist to the May of Marisa Tomei, who had previously established a dynamic with Peter never seen on the big screen. A different relationship between Peter and Aunt May, which works like a charm.
